RESULTS: “ANDREA CERASO ROME AWARD” – second edition

The number of pieces received in this edition and the level of quality were really high, which is why the jury required a longer period of time than expected for an accurate and thorough evaluation. Here, finally, the results!
We are thrilled to announce the winners of the second edition of the "Andrea Ceraso Rome Award" Composition Competition, organized by She Lives in collaboration with Associazione Culturale Eufonia and Imago Sonora Ensemble.
The competition celebrates, and is in memory of, the young Conductor Andrea Ceraso, who passed away unexpectedly in May 2020. In both Rome and Italy, Andrea played an important role in highlighting the music of our time. He was the first artistic director of SHE LIVES and was a pillar of the Eufonia community. He conducted the Rome Youth Orchestra and was the founder and conductor of the Imago Sonora Ensemble, an instrumental group devoted to the dissemination of Contemporary and Twentieth-Century repertoire. He collaborated with some of the most important Roman institutions in the field: Nuova Consonanza, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Auditorium Parco della Musica.
Among 178 scores submitted from 45 countries, which makes the "Andrea Ceraso Rome Award" the first Italian composition competition in terms of participants, the jury, chaired by Sidney Corbett and composed of Alessio Elia and Vincenzo De Filippo, has decreed, at its unquestionable judgment, the following result:

1. PRIZE: Snezana Nesic "Embracing the Darkness Blue" (Serbia)
2. PRIZE: Paolo Molinari "Tenebrae" (Italy)
3. PRIZE: Dimitri Sillato "Wanderlust" (Italy)

Given the high level of the compositions present in the competition, the jury decided to highlight the following works with a special mention:

Marcin Piotr Lopacki - "D-mention” and “Perpendicular universes"
Alberto Montagano - "Tangoke"

Due to the large number of scores received, the jury decided to postdate the announcement of the winners in order to have more time to scrupulously analyze the pieces.
The results will be announced by August 15th.

THE FIRST COMPOSITION COMPETITION IN ITALY IN TERMS OF PARTICIPANTS!

We are thrilled to announce that the first edition of the "Premio di Roma Andrea Ceraso" Composition Competition has obtained an extraordinary result: 247 scores submitted from 44 countries! This makes it the first Italian competition in terms of participants, and among the very first internationally.  The pieces received are from the following countries (in alphabetical order): Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Iran, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States.  This result was made possible thanks to a number of people and institutions, among which Associazione Culturale Eufonia —our partner in this endeavour— and its president Andrea Tagliaferri, its artistic director Claudio Cavallaro, our dear Saria Convertino, and Andrea's friends, Andrea Salvi, Massimo Spada, Angelo Magnifico, Fabiana Piersanti Rigano, Corinna Ricasoli (Archivitaly) and many others. But above all, this remarkable result was achieved by Andrea Ceraso himself: a special person and friend, and a talented professional who enjoyed the esteem of many musicians worldwide.  The jury, chaired by Sidney Corbett, and composed of Alessio Elia and Vincenzo De Filippo, is now busy evaluating the pieces. The winners will be announced by 15 August 2021. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the composers who submitted and shared their works and to all those who made this happen.

CHI SIAMO

(Info regarding the Associazione SHE LIVES - click on the flag for the English version)
